The football may have stopped but work has continued down at Almsford Playing Field.
The overgrown shrubbery has been cut back and new fencing has been installed along the border with the railway line.
Contractors have also been carrying out primary and secondary drainage improvement work on one side of the field.
This is the culmination of 2 years work following the successful approval of a funding application supported by the Football Foundation and should help ensure that more games are playable on our 5 and 7 a-side pitches during the winter months.
As well as improving the drainage we have been able to purchase our own tractor and cutting equipment which will help reduce our ongoing grass maintenance costs.
The investment in our pitches will continue and in May 2022 more secondary drainage will be installed on the other side of the field improving our remaining 7 a-side and 9 a-side pitch.
