The Match was played on a very heavy pitch. It quickly cut up and prevented a lot of passing play and made the bounce difficult to judge.

The Bulldogs started brightly and were quickly on the attack. Josh and Kyle regularly finding Dan on the right. Our passing was as usual very good and we carved out several openings. Our defence was solid and has tightened up well.

Jack , Billy and Harvey had an excellent game and Kyle was superb in goal.

Josh M continues his improvement and worked hard whilst passing and creating.

It was very frustrating that with all our possession we continue to struggle to score in the opening game.(no such problem in friendlies). This must be a confidence issue and a decision making issue. To often we shot when we should have crossed or crossed when we should have shot. However  the match was all square at half time when we could and should have been well ahead.

The second half was a much closer affair as our failure to score had upped their confidence and their main midfielder was starting to run the game. We still however had plenty of possession and the chances were still coming but this time for both sides. Kyle pulled of several good saves. James W came on for Josh M to do a man marking job on their midfielder unfortunately it was not enough and after a scramble they went into the lead.

We continued to play our passing game and were rewarded with the best goal of the game with a move involving Josh M , ending with a pinpoint cross from Dan to Ben who dispatched the ball into goal with venom.

This is how it should have stayed but for a bizarre goal which was deflected high and looping over Kyle who on a dry day would have saved it but with muddy gloves just failed to keep it out. Very frustrating and not what his performance deserved.

The match ended 2-1 to Kirk Deighton but with the other game going our way by the odd goal we were once again in extra time. Our defence and Kyle then produced an outstanding display to keep a clean sheet and we still found time to miss a few more chances ourselves. There were no further goals and with the Terriers scoring in their extra time the tie was won.

We deserved to go through having been much the best team throughout the game but like Ilkley we failed to capitalise on the chances created and we must solve this for the Final in May.

The second game saw Kyle in an attacking midfield role and Dan, Ben , Billy and Jack took turns as sub to give James a full game. The opposition were by now deflated and we ran out easy winners 6-2 as we should have been in the first game.

Thank you Dave
